Dr. Henry S. Dowling , MD

Family Physician, Dr. Henry S. Dowling, MD, specializes in family-based medical care with a focus on internal medicine, pediatrics, prenatal care, and geriatrics.  Dr. Dowling was appointed director of Associates in Integrated Health in 2002.  He has brought his years of private practice and clinical expertise to the public forum and is an internationally renowned speaker on health and relationship topics.  He is also the host of Medical Radio which airs weekly on HOTT 107.5FM.

Dr. Dowling began his journey into medicine as a youth whose childhood adventures led him to several emergency room visits.  Being naturally inquisitive, he became intrigued with the inner workings of the hospital and the practice of medicine.   Also influential was an upbringing that instilled a passion for hard work, giving back to the community, and helping others.

The desire to serve and early curiosity in medicine led to an interest in volunteering at King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH).  At the time, there were no positions for male volunteers, therefore, Dr. Dowling pioneered by becoming the first male candy striper at KEMH.  His efforts opened the door for young men to become candy stripers and gain valuable hospital experience while serving others.

His educational journey took him to Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.  In 1995 Dr. Dowling became a Phi Beta Kappa Honors graduate of Morehouse College and further achieved a Doctorate in Medicine from Emory University School of Medicine in 1999.  Dr. Dowling completed his hospital-based internship in Family Medicine at Overlook Hospital, a Columbia University, and a University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) affiliate.  Dr. Dowling received many honors for high academic attainment and volunteer service throughout his education.

In 2002, he returned home to give back to the very people he deemed responsible for his success, his fellow Bermudians. Since returning to Bermuda, Dr. Dowling has served as the President of the Bermuda Medical Doctors Association, KEMH President of Active Staff, KEMH Vice-President of Active Staff, Road Safety Council, Criminal Compensation Board, Bermuda Cancer & Health Board, Board of the Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel, Co-Parenting Mediation Council, Mental Health Tribunal, The Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Bermuda Board and is Bermuda’s first Direct Primary Care Physician.
